Berhampur: The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) at Berhampur in Odisha’s Ganjam district hosted “Exposure Visit on Achieving Academic Excellence” for the principals of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools on its Transit Campus on November 7-8.
The objective of the event, organised by the CBSE, was to provide school leaders with a structured framework to gain exposure to institutes of eminence across India. It also aimed at enabling the participants to forge future collaborations with the institute, integrating skill education into mainstream education while optimizing the utilization of their resources in a time-shift manner.
During the two-day exposure visit, school principals were introduced to advanced processes and techniques used in research and development as well as science education at IISER.
Delivering the welcome address on the inaugural day, Prof Ashok Ganguli, Director of IISER-Berhampur, emphasised on dissemination of the knowledge and skills acquired during the visit to their respective schools for the benefit of the students and the broader educational community.
The programme also included a tour of the central advanced instrumentation facility, where participants were exposed to cutting-edge research technologies. Besides, they interacted with the faculty in-charge and Heads of Departments. It facilitated an open discussion for resource sharing and exploration of potential collaborations with senior professors and officers of the institute.
The event was coordinated by Dr Nihar K Patra, Librarian at IISER-Berhampur.
