Bhubaneswar: Amicus curiae Gopal Subramanium, appointed by the Supreme Court to submit a report on its reform proposals for Jagannath Temple in Puri, on Sunday said that priority would be given to smooth and disciplined darshan of the Lords.

Briefing mediapersons at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here before leaving for New Delhi this morning, he said the temple servitors have to mend their behaviour and properly deal with the devotees. “I have asked them to mind their behaviour and attitude while dealing with the devotees and ensure transparency and punctuality in their work and they have assured me of acting on my direction. I will come again to the temple after three weeks to review their performance,” he added.

The amicus curiae also said that he has given special emphasis on the socio-economic security of the servitors.

Subramanium, who arrived in Puri on September 18 during his two-day visit, had a meeting with the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Shankaracharya of Gobardhan Peeth, Swami Nischalananda Saraswati, the Law secretary and the Puri District Judge on September 19 and later with Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingh Deb, the Temple Managing Committee, Puri MP Pinaki Mishra and MLA Maheswar Mohanty, the Advocate General, the Chhatisha Nijog and the chairman of the Commission for Jagannath temple reforms, Justice BP Das, the following day.
