Sambalpur: A prisoner in the sub-jail at Rairakhol in Odisha’s Sambalpur district was injured after being allegedly thrashed by the jailor on Sunday for protesting against poor quality food being served to the inmates.
According to sources, the inmate sustained serious injuries on the head and other parts of the body in the attack. He was rushed to the sub-divisional hospital at Rairakhol for treatment in a hurried manner in a vehicle.
While being taken out of the hospital after treatment, the inmate alleged before the media that they were being tortured by the jailor. It was further alleged that three prisoners who complained about mismanagement in the sub-jail have been shifted to Balangir.
Jail officials were not immediately available to comment on the matter.
