Rayagada: Close on the heels of sale of duplicate medicines in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, police have sealed a clinic and detained a fake doctor at Muniguda under Odisha’s Rayagada district.
Following complaints that a fake doctor was running a private clinic and carrying out treatment of patients taking advantage of their ignorance in Muniguda town, the district administration swung into and launched an investigation.
On the direction of the district collector, a team comprising Muniguda tehsildar, officials of community health centre (CHC) and police personnel conducted a joint raid on the clinic near old bus stand on Thursday.
During the raid, the team found that one Subrat Biswas was running the clinic without having medical certificate. The officials also found huge amount of medicines and medical appliances from its premises.
The team seized the medicines and appliances and sealed the clinic. Biswas has been detained in Muniguda police station and further investigation is on.
It may be noted that police have arrested two pharmaceutical distributors for supplying duplicate blood pressure medicines Telma 40 and Telma AM in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
