Private Engineering School In Bhubaneswar Shut Indefinitely After Students Clash

Bhubaneswar: A private engineering school in Bhubaneswar has been closed sine die after two groups of students entered into a clash on the campus.

According to police, two groups of diploma students of the institute located in Airfield area of the capital city had a heated altercation over a trivial issue on Saturday night. While the students of one are natives of Bihar, the other group members are from Odisha.

On being informed about the incident by the school authorities, a police team visited the campus and took immediate steps to bring the situation under control.

Police personnel escorted the students from Bihar to the railway station at night and they boarded trains to proceed to their home. Students from Odisha were also asked to leave the campus immediately, a senior police official said.

He said investigation into the incident is in progress, while the school has been closed for an indefinite period in view of the situation prevailing on the campus.

Most of the students involved in the clash are stated to be in the first year of the diploma programme.
