Private Finance Company Staff Behind Gediapali Cash Loot Case: Police

Khurda: A week after a daylight loot of Rs 60 lakh cash from the staff of a private finance company near Gediapali near Begunia in Odisha’s Khurda district, police on Wednesday recovered Rs 27 lakh and arrested three staff members and detained two other persons.

Giving details to the media, Khurda SP, Dipti Ranjay Ray said one of the accused, Srikant Sahu, a staff member of Radiant Cash Management Private Ltd, had lodged a complaint with the Begunia police on November 8 that four miscreants had intercepted their vehicle at Gadiapali and fled from the area after snatching the cash bag from the three other staff members of the company at gun-point.

“Acting on the complaint, police had begun investigation into the incident. In the course of the investigation, police got information about a cash bag lying at the backyard of a house in Puinchia village under Baideswar police limits. Later, two special police teams raided the village and recovered a bag containing over Rs 18.29 lakh from the backyard of a house. Police later came to know that the house owner from which the cash bag was seized is the father-in-law of Manoj Boral, the car driver, another accused in the case. Police later seized Rs 8.98 lakh cash from the house of another kin of Manoj. After the seizure of the cash, we have arrested three persons and detained two other persons for interrogation. Efforts are on to recover the remaining cash and trace Manoj who is absconding,” the SP said.
Stating that the involvement of the staff of the private finance company in the cash loot case has been established, he said that if necessary, the police will take the three accused on remand to elicit more details of their modus operandi.
Soon after a complaint was lodged at the Begunia police station, IG, Central Range, Soumendra Priyadarshi, Khurda SDPO Jugal Kishore Das and IIC of Begunia police station had gone to Gediapalli for an on-the-spot investigation.
