Bhubaneswar: Odisha now has one more COVID-19 testing facility with IMS & SUM, SOA deemed to be University, in Bhubaneswar getting the permission for conducting molecular test for the virus.
It is the first private medical college to get the approval from the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR).
The tests would be conducted in the Molecular RNA Virology Laboratory of the institute, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Pusparaj Samantasinhar, said.
“To start with, the lab can conduct 300 tests per day,” Director, Research, IMS and SUM Hospital, Dr. Jaishankar Das said.
The hospital had received NABL approval for the Molecular RNA Virology Laboratory earlier this month, he added.
Currently, COVID-19 tests are being conducted at RMRC, AIIMS and Institute of Life Sciences in Bhubaneswar, SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, VIMSAR, Burla, and Ispat General Hospital (IGH), Rourkela.
