Private Offices In Delhi Closed For Surge In COVID Cases; Know Which Are Exempted

Ne Delhi: Due to surge in COVID cases, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Tuesday asked all private offices except those providing essential services or come under the ‘exempted category’ to close down.

The DDMA, in an official order, has directed the private offices to instruct their employees to work from home. These offices were allowed to run with 50% of its staff till today.

The DDMA has also stated that all restaurants and bars will be closed. However, they allowed to continue home delivery and takeaway services.

The following private offices are exempted from the DDMA order:

• Private banks
• Offices of companies providing essential services
• Insurance/mediclaim firms
• Pharmaceutical company engaged in management of production/distribution
• RBI regulated entities
• Non-banking financial companies
• Micro-finance institutions
• Offices of advocates, if operations of courts, tribunals are on
• Courier services

The DDMA stated that the violators of its order will face action under provisions of Sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Section 188 of IPC besides fines as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
