Baripada: Private bus service came to a grinding halt in Odisha’s Baripada following a strike called by the Mayurbhanj Bus Owners’ Association in protest against a violent clash between two groups.
At least five people, including a bus owner, were critically injured in the clash that took place between two groups over the route permit and running time of a private bus at Baripada bus stand on Friday night.
Sources said the two groups entered into a violent clash in which sharp weapons and sticks were used.
At five people were critically injured in the incident. Three of the injured persons were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.
The association has threatened to continue the stir till the arrest of miscreants who assaulted a bus owner and his aides.
Following the strike, common people with travel plans to their hometowns and other places on the occasion of Snana Purnima faced a tough time.
Ten persons from both the groups have so far been detained by the Baripada Town police in connection with the violent clash, police said
