Mumbai: Recent reports suggested that Tabu was unhappy with Akshay Kumar after some of her scenes were trimmed from ‘Bhhoth Bangla’, something she allegedly wouldn’t have agreed to had she known in advance.
Director Priyadarshan has now dismissed such talk as rumours.
“I don’t know why and who is spreading this negative news. Tabu is not upset at all. I have done eight films with her, and if she was upset, she would have told me,” Priyadarshan was quoted as saying by Pinkvilla.
“I am the director of Bhooth Bangla, and I decide what to keep and what not to. The film
is a big success, but some are trying to spread negativity. Akshay didn’t ask me to edit any part; he never does. I do my work with honesty, and every actor comes and sees the film before the release. Whoever is spreading such rumours should be ashamed,” he continued.
‘Bhooth Bangla’, which was released on April 17, marked the reunion of Priyadarshan with longtime collaborators Akshay, Tabu, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav.
Backed by Balaji Motion Pictures and Cape of Good Films, the film also features Wamiqa Gabbi in a prominent role.
Despite having opened to mixed reception, the film has shown steady growth at the box office, largely driven by positive word of mouth.
It also stands out as one of the final screen appearances of veteran actor Asrani, best known for his memorable turn as the jailer in ‘Sholay’. Asrani passed away on October 20 at the age of 84. He be seen posthumously in the upcoming ‘Haiwaan’, another Akshay starrer directed by Priyadarshan.
