The independent movie scenario has emerged stronger in India with renowned producers backing fresh talents and unique concepts.
A number of short films have, of late, been vying for attention in the Short Film category of the Oscars.
Among them, ‘Shameless’ has been making quite some noise.
Recently, international star and global icon Priyanka Chopra-Jonas and her home banner Purple Pebble Pictures gave a shout-out to the short films on social media.
“We love all of the amazing Indian filmmakers in the mix for the Academy Awards shorts category! Wishing everyone the best of luck! Excited to see more content from emerging Indian filmmakers take the global front,” the production house wrote.
Priyanka, founder of Purple Pebble Pictures, uploaded the poster of ‘Shameless’ in her Instagram Stories and urged her followers to actively support short films contesting for Oscars.
“Check out these movie guys!! Let’s get these amazing filmmakers traction!” she wrote.
‘Shameless’ is a fast-paced dark comedy thriller packed of 15 minutes’ duration. Its tight plot touches upon the fact that humans are losing connection and becoming rude and isolated due to social media and technology. It’s one of the top trending short films in the Oscar 2021 posts on social media under the hashtag #Oscar21.

The film is directed by Keith Gomes and presented by Shabinaa Khan whose credits as a producer include Bollywood movies like ‘Rowdy Rathore’, ‘Gabbar’ and ‘Laxmii’.
‘Shameless’ is produced by Ashley Gomes, National Award-winner Sandeep Kamal and Keith Gomes, co-produced by Girish ‘Bobby’ Talwar, with sound by Oscar-winner Resul Pookutty (Slumdog Millionaire).
