Probe Ordered Into Alleged Bid To Attack Woman BDO In Odisha

Kendrapada: The district administration in Odisha’s Kendrapada has ordered an inquiry into the alleged abuse and attempted attack on Rajnagar Block Development Officer (BDO) Tilottama Prusty

Sources said the District Collector ordered an investigation into the alleged incident following a complaint submitted by the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Association. Appropriate action would be taken against those found responsible.

Following the incident, BDO Prusty reportedly proceeded on leave. An FIR has been lodged against the accused on behalf of the Rajnagar Block Chairman, police said.

The incident came to light after a video purportedly showing the altercation went viral on social media. The footage allegedly shows a group of public represe

ntatives inside the BDO’s office, reportedly led by local BJP leader Lalit Behera. In the video, one individual is seen attempting to lift and throw a laptop during a heated argument.

The incident was reportedly triggered by dispute over the clearance of bills and sanctioning of development works.

According to available information, a local leader, along with more than 30 supporters, allegedly entered the chamber of the Rajnagar BDO around noon. The group is accused of surrounding the officer and pressuring her to clear certain bills and approve development projects.

Sources said the BDO informed the group that bills could only be processed as per government norms and in proportion to the work completed. This reportedly led to further escalation, with members of the group allegedly issuing threats and warning of serious consequences if their demands were not met. It was also alleged that one person attempted to attack the officer by lifting a laptop.

The incident was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras installed inside the BDO’s office. The district OAS Association has condemned the incident and demanded strict action against those involved.
