Angul: A probe has been ordered into allegations of harassment levelled by a women Havildar against two seniors in Odisha’s Angul.
Angul Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Jain told reporters on Wednesday that the female havildar had filed a petition alleging harassment at the
workplace. She had also submitted her resignation two days back, citing harassment by seniors.
An internal complaints committee (ICC) is looking into the matter. Another probe will be conducted by a team headed by a senior female DSP, the SP said.
“We have initiated action based on the petition of the complainant. Her petition has been forwarded to the ICC. Further action will be taken on the basis of the findings of the inquiries,” he said.
The woman havildar had alleged that she was being constantly harassed unduly by two senior police officers. She had detailed her ordeal in a petition and tendered her resignation, citing this as the cause of leaving police service.
