Process Begins For Rath Yatra In Odisha’s Puri

Puri: The process for this year’s Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his two siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra began on Monday.

A team of senior officials from Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) office here left for Maa Badaraula Thakurani temple at Daspalla forest range in Nayagarh district to identify logs for construction of chariots.

The team comprising of senior supervisor, ratha amin, Bhoi sevaks left with Mahaprabhu’s holy garland called ‘Mala Maharda’, for offering to Maa Badaraula Thakurani, said Jeetendra Sahu of Srimandir Neeti body.

After offering pooja at Badaraula Thakurani temple tomorrow and obtaining the presiding deity’s permission, the team will start the process to identify logs for the construction of chariots.

A total of 865 pieces of logs are required for construction of three chariots of the Trinity.

The first lot of logs for construction of chariots reach before Sri Panchami.
