Procurement Of Kharif Paddy In Odisha From Nov 1

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will begin the procurement of Kharif paddy from November 1.

Briefing media here on Wednesday, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain said the process of registration of the farmers for procurement of paddy has ended. A total of 11,56,130 farmers have been registered.

He said the state government will hear the grievances of the farmers, farmers’ bodies and common man from September 22 to 29.

Replying to a question on the steep hike in the price of onion, the minister said that the situation has occurred due to flood in Nasik district in Maharashtra. “This is a seasonal issue which will be over after the flood situation improves in the district,” he added.
