Mumbai: After the fallout between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar over ‘Don 3’, reports suggest that the Producers Guild of India will be stepping in to resolve the issue.
The Guild is reportedly planning informal meetings with both parties by the end of February to mediate between the actor and producers.
However, if the matter remains unresolved even after discussions, it could be escalated to the Cine & TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) to ensure a fair resolution.
It all began following Ranveer’s exit from ‘Don 3’, which is being produced by Farhan’s Exc
el Entertainment.
Reports claim that the production house has sought Rs 40 crore in compensation, citing pre-production expenses, scheduling disruptions, and financial losses incurred after the actor’s exit.
Sources close to the project revealed that Excel had moved into pre-production after Ranveer approved the script. But later the actor opted out of the project claiming dissatisfaction with the final draft and requesting changes that did not materialise.
A recent two-hour meeting between the actor and the production house reportedly failed to yield a solution.
The recent case has reportedly triggered wider discussions within the Guild about rising production costs and the body may use this instance as a reference point to consider clearer guidelines on managing such costs in future projects.
In August 2023, Farhan released a video announcing Ranveer as the new Don in ‘Don 3’.
The iconic role was previously portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
