Bhubaneswar: Retired professor of English D K Ray passed away here on Monday. He was 82.
Born on February 1, 1938, he was the director of English Language Teaching Institute (ELTI) and Director Public Instruction (DPI) of School and Mass Education department. He also served as Registrar of Utkal University.
He was the second person to achieve first-class in English MA from Utkal University (Ravenshaw College). The first person was Prof G K Das.
Ray taught English in the erstwhile Khallikote College and was adored as a fine teacher having a passion for English Metaphysicals.
He is survived by a son, who lives in Canada, and two daughters who stay in Bhubaneswar.
