Bhubaneswar: Eminent educationist and chief consultant to the SOA Deemed University Prof R P Mohanty has been honoured the prestigious Prof P C Mahalanobis award for his contribution as the distinguished educator at the 51th national convention of the Operational Research Society of India.
The convention was concluded in IIT Bombay on Wednesday.
Prof Mohanty, who has nearly 41 years of experience in academics in India and foreign universities and 10 years in Indian industry in top management positions, is also a former Vice-Chancellor of SOA Deemed to be University.
He has also been conferred the ‘Sir Viseswaraya Award’ as well for his outstanding contribution in the field of Technical Education and Technology Management in 2003 and ‘Best Researcher’ award by the Institution of Engineers (India).
A fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering as well as International Institute of Engineering and Technology (Hong Kong), he was also a recipient of Honorary D Sc from Sambalpur University and the Abdul Kalam award as the distinguished Academician of India.
Prof Mohanty has published 17 text books and more than 350 research papers in reputed and scholarly International and Indian Journals and newspapers besides guiding scores of Ph D research scholars.
He has worked as advisor to over 25 big companies in the country and abroad in the areas of engineering and management. He also serves as Member in the Board of several Universities in India.
He is known internationally as an empirical researcher, a system scientist, organization theorist and development expert.
