Bhubaneswar: Prof Sudip Kumar Chand on Tuesday took charge as the chairman of the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE).
The appointment of Chand was notified by the Skill Development and Technical Education department on Monday.
Talking to the mediapersons here, Chand said he will give priority to proper counselling of the students taking admission in different streams. “I will try my best to make the OJEE people-oriented and ensure its smooth functioning,” he added.
Prior to his new assignment, Chand was the Professor and head of the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) at Sarang in Dhenkanal district.
After completing his Engineering Degree from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Rourkela, Chand pursued PhD from the IIT, Kharagpur. In 1989, he joined IGIT as the Director and later became the Professor and head of the department of Civil Engineering from 2006 till date.
The post of OJEE chairman was lying vacant after the retirement of Tushar Kant Nath while Dr Manish Tripathy was the acting chairman.
