Mathura: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC was imposed by the Mathura administration following threats from right-wing groups to install a Lord Krishna idol inside the Shahi Idgah mosque on December 6, Babri Masjid demolition anniversary.
According to SSP Mathura, Gaurav Grover, the administration had information that some persons and outfits were appealing on social media for such an event to be staged on December 6. No permission has been granted or will be granted for such events, Grover told reporters as reported by The Hindu.
In a video statement telecast by local media, the SSP said that strict action will be initiated against any person who spreads rumours or attempts to disturb the peace.
The decision from the administration comes after an Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha leader had recently declared the group would install an idol of Lord Krishna inside the mosque and claimed that it was the god’s actual birthplace.
According to District Magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal, the administration has not allowed any such events and that people making such appeals were being identified.
