Bhubaneswar: Road safety has assumed great significance in recent years. Provision of a safe road to various categories of road users is a challenge before the Odisha Police. The Odisha Motor Vehicle Department (OMVD) should work sincerely to ensure road safety by way of proper enforcement, said Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma. He was speaking at the passing out parade (first batch) of Cadet Sub-Inspectors (Traffic) of (OMVD) held at Biju Patnaik State Police Academy here on Tuesday.
The DGP complimented the Cadet SIs for the impressive parade and called upon officers at the cutting edge to enforce the law diligently, honestly and with professionalism.
Stressing on the need for regular highway patrolling and strict enforcement of road safety law, Sharma called upon the Cadet SIs (Traffic) to be disciplined, honest, impartial and people-friendly in their day-to-day functioning. He also advised them to apply the 3-T Mantra Technology, Team-work and Transparency of the Chief Minister in their work ethics.
He gave away certificates of appreciation and other trophies to the best performing cadets.
Director BPSPA Arun Kumar Sarangi and Transport Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda also spoke on the occasion.
For the first time in the history of BPSPA, it has trained 16 Cadet SIs (Traffic) of OMVD. These 16 Cadet Sub-Inspectors of Traffic, OMVD reported their joining at BPSPA on January 8, 2018 for undergoing a six months basic training course.
They were imparted training on subjects like Organization and Administration, Major Criminal Acts, Traffic Control Laws, Minor Acts, Computer, Indian Constitution, Human Rights, Forensics and Photography. They were also taught on Enforcement of MV Laws, Regulation of Traffic, Road Safety, Designing of Road, Creating Awareness on ‘Accident Free Zone’, etc.
