Mumbai: Actor Emraan Hashmi is currently filming his upcoming project in Haridwar, but the shoot triggered a protest after installation of a set left the locals irked.
The issue came to light when a video from the location surfaced online, showing a dispute between the locals and the film crew.
According to a Dainik Bhaskar report, the production team had constructed a temporary restaurant set for a sequence in the film and installed a prominent signboard reading ‘Cafe & Bar.’
The signboard drew criticism from locals and representatives of several Hindu groups, who argued that such a display was inappropriate in Haridwar, one of India’s most revered pilgrimage destinations.
Residents reportedly expressed concern that the use of the word ‘Bar’ was insensitive to the city’s religious significance.
As tensions escalated, protesters demanded that the signboard be removed immediately, leading to a heated exchange with members of the production team.
The incident sparked debate on social media after videos from the location went viral.
According to local reports, the matter was eventually resolved after the film crew agreed to remove the word “Bar” from the signboard.

pic.twitter.com/cn7UcSlQbA
