Nuapada: Villagers have locked themselves inside their homes in fear after a tiger was found prowling in the area in the Nuapada district on Monday.
The incident was reported from Haladi village in Khariar Road Forest Range.
According to reports, the tiger was first spotted by some Forest Department personnel during night patrolling on Sunday. Later on Monday morning, it was seen by some people roaming in the village, triggering panic.
On being informed, Forest Department staff have reached the village and started patrolling. The villagers were instructed to be cautious during evening and night and remain indoors during the period.
In 2017, a tiger had killed a four-year-old boy at Haladi village when the child was sleeping with his parents on the veranda of their house at night.
Later, the Forest Department rescued two tigers from the jungle near the village and sent them to Nandankanan zoo in Bhubaneswar.
No wonder, the latest spotting of a tiger has triggered panic among the villagers.
