Puri: The state BJP on Tuesday demanded the resignation of State Planning Board Deputy Chairman and BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma following the mysterious death of his Personal Security Officer (PSO) Chittaranjan Palai.

“Palai’s family has levelled allegations against Das Burma. The CM should immediately expel him,” said BJP MLA Lalitendu Mohapatra.

On Tuesday, Palai’s family members met Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh and demanded a Crime Branch investigation.

Das Burma also accompanied Palai’s father, uncle, brother and sister and met the Puri SP.

The body of Palai, who went missing from Brahmagiri in Puri district on Sunday, was found floating in Nuanai off Bhargavi river on Monday.

According to sources, fire service personnel were deployed after a motorcycle, footwear and chain were recovered near Gadamrugasira bridge under Puri Sadar police limits on Sunday night.

Villagers suspect that Palai was murdered while he had gone to attend a feast. Suspecting abduction by friends, his family had lodged a missing complaint at Puri Town Police Station.

Some family members pointed accusing fingers at Das Burma, alleging that a close associate of his, Jaga, had killed him.
