Bhubaneswar: The three-day pulse polio vaccination drive kicked-off across Odisha on Sunday. The government had halted the COVID-19 vaccination till February 3, when the polio drive ends.
Talking to media, Director, Health and Family Welfare, Bijay Panigrahi said polio vaccine will be given to the children below 5 years.
“During the three days, we have set a target to vaccinate 41,31,763 children in 19,557 booths. As many as 94,039 children will be vaccinated by 1,090 volunteers in 250 booths in Bhubaneswar. While vaccination will be given in booths today, the volunteers and health staff will carry on the door-to-door vaccination for two days from Monday,” he added.
Talking about COVID vaccination, he said that about two lakh frontline COVID warriors will be vaccinated in the second phase. “We have asked the Home, Revenue and Disaster Management and the Housing and Urban Development departments to submit the list of the COVID warriors by 12 am today,” Panigrahi pointed out.
He further said out of 3.5 lakh health workers, 2,06,426 have been vaccinated so far.
