New Delhi: Initial intelligence report has suggested there was a larger plot behind the Pulwama terror attack. The probe said the blast did not happen because of the ramming of the explosive-laden SUV into the bus ferrying CRPF jawans as was being believed, but there was a proper switch-enabled IED in place to trigger the huge quantity of explosives.
1. A larger conspiracy is believed to be behind the Pulwama terror attack as the involvement of more sophisticated players is being suspected. Right from the assembly of the device to making of a vehicle-borne IED, it all hinted at the involvement of more sophisticated players, Times Now claimed quoting a report.
2. It said terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad, which claimed responsibility for the attack, could not have launched the attack of this magnitude, hinting at the involvement of state actors behind this.
3. JeM terrorist Adil Ahmad Dar, who hailed from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, carried out the attack when he rammed the explosive-laden vehicle into the CRPF convoy.
4. As tensions continued to simmer between the two countries, Pakistan has recalled its envoy to India “for consultations”. India had also recalled its high commissioner to Pakistan last week for consultations with the Ministry of External Affairs.
5. On the other hand, ANI quoted sources saying the army was constantly briefing Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman about the unfolding situation in Kashmir.
6.The Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists have moved from their hideouts to locations near populated areas, fearing retaliation from security forces, sources further said. They said about 80 terrorits were hiding in the Kashmir valley and flusging them out would be a major challenge before them.
7. Some reports suggested heightened activity across the LoC as the Pakistan army was fearing an imminent attack from the Indian side.
8.In a related development, Pakistan has recalled its envoy to India “for consultations”. India had also recalled its high commissioner to Pakistan last week for consultations with the Ministry of External Affairs.
9. Hardening his stand against Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said, “brutal terrorist attack in Pulwama proves that time for talks have passed. Now, the entire world needs to unite against terrorism and its supporters and take strong actions.”
10. The Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service has been cancelled by India. The bus service connects Srinagar to Muzaffarabad’s Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. It was started in 2005 as a confidence building measure following the success of Delhi-Lahore bus service in 1999.
