Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moosewala Was Fired At 30 Times: Police

Chandigarh: Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala was fired upon over 30 times by his attackers, police said on Monday. Even then, the attackers checked whether he was alive.

Moosewala was shot dead at Jawaharke village near Mansa on Sunday. The 27-year-old singer sustained seven bullet injuries. His cousin Gurpreet Singh and neighbour Gurwinder Singh were critically injured. They are stable, according to reports.

Punjab DGP VK Bhawra said Moosewala, accompanied by his neighbour and cousin, left his house around 4:30 pm in a Mahindra Thar. They were soon trailed by the assailants in a white Toyota Corolla. At Jawaharke village, they were intercepted by men in two more vehicles, a white Bolero and a dark grey Scorpio.

The DGP said 30 empty bullet shells were found at the spot. Six suspects have been detained. The bullets fired indicate a AN-94 Russian assault rifle, a 9-mm pistol and a .455-bore gun were used by the attackers.

On Saturday, the Punjab government removed security cover of 424 VIPS, including Moosewala.
