Puri: Devotees visiting Puri Jagannath temple will be allowed to enter the premises through Paschima Dwar (west entrance) from April 29, informed Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Vir Vikram Yadav.
Addressing mediapersons after a meeting of the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee here on Friday, Yadav said the Singha Dwara will also remain open. The devotees can exit through Uttara Dwar and Dakshin Dwar. The decision has been taken as construction of chariots for the annual Rath Yatra will also start soon, Yadav added.
The Niti Sub Committee’s decision for Chandan Yatra and other rituals of Jagannath temple were approved at the meeting.
The committee will meet again on April 25 for discussions on temple Budget for 2022-23.
Puri Collector Samarth Verma said the earlier decision on allowing participation of devotees for Chandan Yatra of the temple’s deities stands unchanged.
Other facilities like shade arrangements for devotees on the Grand Road will be shifted to Pashima Dwara as the construction of chariots for annual Rath Yatra of the Mahaprabhu will start.
