Bhubaneswar: The Indian Navy has invited Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb for the Navy Day celebrations event to be held on the coast in the pilgrim town in Odisha on December 4.
Sources said two senior Navy officials visited the residence of the Puri King and invited him to the grand event which will also be graced attended by President Droupadi Murmu.
Hectic preparations for the celebrations are already underway, with the Puri coastline resembling a battlefield of sorts. Beachgoers were treated to the roar of warships, dazzling aerial stunts by fighter jets, and skillful helicopter maneuvers on Saturday as part of the Navy’s ongoing rehearsals.
Navy personnel and paratroopers also showcased their combat strategies on the Blue Flag beach, turning the area into a major point of attraction for locals and tourists alike.
Navy Day is celebrated each year to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war and honour the Navy’s valour and achievements on December 4. It will be the first time that the celebrations are going to be held in Odisha.
As per reports, the Indian Navy Day celebrations in Puri will highlight the Navy’s readiness to counter external threats. Along with a display of stunts and flybys of fighter jets, several warships will also showcase their strength.
Sources also stated that the Navy’s musical band is also all set to enthral visitors by performing patriotic beats and concerts and MARCOS commandos will exhibit stealth and rapid-fire combat techniques.
