Puri: The Jagannath temple here will be closed for devotees on Sunday due to a sanitization drive at the shrine and its vicinity.
Two teams consisting of Puri Municipality employees and Fire Service personnel are carrying out the sanitization of the Baisi Pahacha (the 22 steps), Simha Dwara (Lion’s Gate), the other entry points, etc. All the areas near the temple’s boundary walls will also be sanitized.
The devotes can get darshan of the sibling deities from Monday.
Notably, the temple administration had earlier decided to close the shrine for sanitization on Sundays.
