Puri: Nabin Odisha and 5T Chairman V K Pandian on Saturday reviewed the progress in Shree Mandira Parikrama Project (Heritage Corridor Project) and gave direction for completion of the ongoing works in the pilgrim town of Puri by December 15.

The direction came a day after Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb on Friday reviewed project work and announced January 17 as the tentative date for dedicating the project to people.

Pandian, who visited the holy town in the wee hours, reviewed the progress of Shree Mandira Parikrama project at the site. He directed the project authorities to expedite the work and complete it by December 15, official sources said.

Also asking the authorities to accelerate renovation of various mutts in Puri, he told them to work in collaboration with all the stakeholders by giving importance to the history and traditions of the mutts during the restoration.

The 5T Chairman suggested planting various indigenous trees and shrubs associated with Jagannath culture in the landscaping work of the Parikrama project.

This apart, he also suggested that small replicas of the temple be built near the Meghnad wall. He directed to keep the road connected to the temple block-free so that the pilgrims coming for darshan of the Lord can reach the temple without any obstacle.

He also sought steps to make adequate arrangements for parking of two-wheelers for the convenience of locals and servitors. He stressed the need for shifting of various materials from near the Meghnad wall and completion of electricity arrangements for the Parikrama project.

Pandian also reviewed the progress of the Jagannath Ballabh parking work, development of various facilities being made for the passengers, the progress of the work of Pramod Udyan and Shree Setu bridge project and directed to complete the work on time. For this, he advised to deploy more people.

Notably, the Puri King had on Friday reviewed the work and stated the much-awaited Parikrama project will be dedicated to people on January 17, next year.

“The project is nearing completion and it is likely to be thrown open for public on January 17, 2024. A final decision will be taken in the meeting of the temple managing committee tomorrow evening. A havan will also be held for over 5 days during the dedication ceremony,” he told mediapersons.

Dibyasingha Deb is also the chairman of the Shree Jagannath Temple Management Committee (SJTMC).
