Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) will on Friday take a decision on reopening the temple for devotees from February 1.
SJTA chief Krishan Kumar will chair a virtual meeting in the afternoon in this regard.
The Jagannath Temple was closed from January 10 to 31 after a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases, driven by the Omicron-fuelled third wave, in Odisha. But cases have started declining in the state and top health officials have indicated that the third wave peak may have passed in Odisha.
The Puri district administration on Thursday withdrew the restrictions barring people belonging to districts other than Puri from performing cremation at Swargadwar here.
Speaking to media persons on the step, Puri collector Samarth Verma said the administration took the decision following drop in daily COVID cases.
