Cuttack: Puri police on Tuesday deposited CCTV footage of this year’s Rath Yatra with Justice BP Das commission.
The state government had formed the commission after massive irregularities were reported during Niladri Bije ritual last year. It would recommend measures for bringing in reforms at Jagnnath Temple in Puri.
In a letter to Puri SP, the commission had sought footage of CCTVs installed in and around the temple pertaining to Rath Yatra and related rituals – Snan Purnima, Bahuda Yatra, Suna Besha and Niladri Bije.
The footage would give a clear picture of security measures and other necessary arrangements made by police, administration and temple authorities for smooth conduct of the festival and based on it the commission could suggest ways to improve things, official sources said.
At least 200 CCTV cameras have been installed in the pilgrim town.
