Puri: Amid the ongoing preparations for the Rath Yatra, 13 logs of Phasi tree to build the chariots arrived in Puri on Monday.
The logs of Phasi tree came from Nayagarh forest range during the third phase of the construction of the three chariots.
The temple supervisor, Sudarshan Mekap, informed that a total of 865 logs are required for the construction of the chariots.
“The temple administration had received 49 logs in the first phase. Now, we have got another lot of 13 logs. Later, 734 more logs will arrive in phases,” he added.
Mekap said the construction of the three chariots will begin on the occasion of Akshaya Trutiya on May 15.
Before that, the logs will be taken to a saw mill at Khapuria, Cuttack for cutting on Ram Navami on April 21, he said.
The Rath Yatra will be held on July 12.
