Puri: As per tradition, the ‘anukul’ (initiation ceremony) of the Ratha Katha (chariot logs) will be held at the Jagannath temple here on the occasion of Basant Panchami on Tuesday.
Sevayats will perform the rituals and offer puja to three logs known as ‘Dhaura Katha’ for the three chariots. Each of the log measures 12 feet in length.
The rituals will be performed at ‘Rath Khala’, a specific place earmarked for chariot construction in front of the temple.
As per tradition, the construction of the three chariots begin on Akhaya Tritiya after all the required logs reach Rath Khala.
