Puri: With a large number of devotees set to gather for the sacred Deba Snana Purnima at Shree Jagannath Temple, the district administration of Puri has announced closure of all schools within the municipal limits along with select nearby institutions on Monday.
The decision was taken in accordance with th
e directions of the Collector and District Magistrate, Puri, to ensure effective crowd management, maintain public safety, and facilitate smooth traffic regulation during the religious observance.
As per the official order issued by the District Education Officer (DEO), all government, government-aided, and privately managed schools from Sishu Vatika to Class XII under the jurisdiction of the Puri Municipal Corporation will remain closed on June 29 (Monday).
Additionally, institutions such as Mothers Public School (Gorual), Prabhushree English Medium School (Malatipatapur), and Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (Puri Sadar) have also been included under the closure order.
Deba Snana Purnima, an important ritual associated with the annual Rath yatra festival of the 12th century shrine, marks the ceremonial bathing of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.
The event attracts large gatherings of devotees from across Odisha and beyond.
