Puri: Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati has appealed to the Supreme Court to reconsider its order on disallowing Rath Yatra in Odisha.
While welcoming the order, the Shankaracharya said it can be understood that the apex court has taken the decision in view of the well-being of the devotees under the present situation.
At the same time, the seer in a video release said it would be appropriate if the highest court of the country could consider the religious sentiments of the people of Odisha and the significance of the Rath Yatra.
Stating that the Rath Yatra is a tradition of Jagannath temple that has been followed for ages, the Swami said the court should revise its ruling to enable the devotees to have darshan of the Trinity in public appearance.
