Puri: The Simhadwar Police on Saturday arrested priest Sangram Das and forwarded him to the court for misbehaving with a minor girl of a neighbouring state at the Dadhi Bamana temple inside the Jagannath temple on Friday afternoon.
The incident came to light after police swung into action following a complaint lodged by the girl’s family at Simhadwar police station.
According to reports, the girl and her family were visiting the temple when a servitor allegedly molested the girl around 2-3 pm near Dadhi Bamana temple on Friday, the girl’s family stated in the complaint.
Police have registered a case under POCSO Act at Simhadwar police station and detained the accused servitor under Section 164.
The girl was counselled by Child Welfare Committee, stated reports.
