Puri: For the second day on Saturday, Puri Shankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati reiterated his appeal to the Supreme Court to review its order on cancellation of Rath Yatra in Odisha.
Elaborating the significance of the seat of Shankaracharya in a video release, the seer said the lineage of Shankaracharya is linked to Lord Narayan and it is a tradition that has been running for over one crore years.
He said as per the tradition, the Shankaracharyas make their comments on religious matters considering the prevailing situation in the society. If God cannot forgive to allow Rath Yatra that may spread the pandemic, will God forgive if the tradition is stopped, he asked.
He stressed that considering the significance of Shankaracharya seat, the court should consult him and take his opinion before announcing its order on the matters related to religious sentiments of the devotees.
Though the court order aims at the well-being of the people, it is devoid of real judgement of the issue, the seer said adding that judgment should be issued considering the cases of previous pandemics and sanctions of the scriptures as well.
