Puri SJTA Voices Concern Over Devotees Deviating From Traditional Practices While Having Mahaprasad

Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in Odisha’s Puri on Saturday urged all devotees to refrain from practices that deviate from the tradition, specifically while having Mahaprasad.

The appeal by the temple administration follows reports of people consuming Mahaprasad while seated at hotel dining tables, a practice that has triggered outrage among devotees.

The reports of people having Mahaprasad on dining table while wearing shoes and chappals also sparked concern among temple servitors and officials.

In an official statement, the SJTA noted that the temple administration became aware of a social media image depicting people dining on Mahaprasad at a hotel in Puri. The image quickly garnered attention and raised questions about the proper reverence for the sacred food. The temple administration stated that Mahapasad is traditionally consumed while sitting on the ground and not on dining table.
