Bhubaneswar: With thousands of devotees heading towards Odisha’s Puri to witness the sacred Suna Besha (Golden Attire) of Lord Jagannath and siblings, severe traffic congestion has occurred on the Bhubaneswar-Puri National Highway on Saturday.

According to the latest traffic update issued by the Traffic Control Room (TCC) Puri at 12 noon on Saturday, there is an extremely heavy inflow of vehicles from Bhubaneswar side towards Puri, leading to severe congestion on the route.

It said the waiting time at Maltipatpur has now increased to around 1.5 hours and is likely to rise further as the day progresses. Authorities have urged commuters to plan their journey accordingly and stay updated with further traffic advisories.

In view of the heavy inflow of vehicles, the Traffic Police have appealed to the public to cooperate with on-duty personnel to ensure smooth traffic movement and safety of all devotees during this peak festive period.

Motorists heading to Puri have been advised to exercise patience, follow traffic diversions, and avoid unnecessary travel if possible.
