Bhubaneswar: The shooting for ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, the highly-anticipated sequel, starring Allu Arjun is likely to begin in Odisha’s Malkangiri soon, sources said on Friday.
Director Sukumar reportedly did a recce of the terrains at Polur village under Kalimela police limits and reviewed the preparations for the shooting. He is being accompanied by assistant director M Prasad, cinematographer Miroslaw Kuba Brozek and other crew members.
Speaking to the media, Sukumar said the search for the locations is still on. He seemed impressed with the terrains in the tribal belt. “We will try to make something here. We found some good locations where the sunlight can be put to good use,” said Brozek.
The assistant director said that police scenes will be shot in Malkangiri from May 9-20. “Allu Arjun will be in here in the next schedule in June-July,” he added.
The sources further said that the production house will take the necessary permission for the shooting from Malkangiri Collector and SP on May 7. A few scenes from the upcoming pan-India film will be shot in Polur and other nearby villages in the Swabhiman Anchal that was once a hotbed of Maoist violence between 2008 and 2021, witnessing the killing of 101 civilians and 77 security personnel.
The Border Security Force (BSF) will be requested to provide security and cooperate with the production house during the shooting, the sources added.
Production manager of Mythri Movie Makers P Venkateswara Rao had earlier confirmed that Hantalguda, Saptadhara and Jhulapola were finalised for the filming of Pushpa-2 in Odisha. The makers reportedly had found a place in Hantalguda ghat with a hanging bridge to film a scene in which a lorry is seen chasing a jeep.
A few days ago, Allu Arjun dressed in shorts and a black shirt was seen in an area along Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The shooting had begun near Tarbuj waterfall, about 2 km from Malkangiri, in the neighbouring state. It had created a lot of excitement in Odisha, where Allu Arjun already enjoys a huge fan base.
The Pushpa actor’s blockbuster movie ‘Arya’ was earlier shot in Odisha’s Rayagada.
