Hyderabad: Following the tragic death of a 35-year-old woman in a stampede during the screening of Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, the Telangana government has banned special shows in the state.
On Friday, Telangana Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy slammed actors for their thoughtless promotional activities because of which a life was lost.
“The death of a woman in a stampede at Sandhya theatre pained me and I express heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. From now onwards, we will not allow the benefit shows in the state. Is it correct on the part of the heroes to visit the theatres when huge crowd thronged the premises for the benefit shows?” Reddy was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle.
The minister further stated that the government would take strict action against the people responsible for the incident.
Allu and the Sandhya theatre management are likely to be booked for the stampede.
On the night before the release of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, Allu paid a surprise visit to Sandhya theatre in Hyderabad to watch the screening of the film with his fans. The crowd went berserk ion an effort to catch a glimpse of the star, leading to a stampede.
A woman named Revathi lost her life and her minor son was critically injured. The woman was declared brought dead in hospital.
Directed by Sukumar, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ released on December. The film features Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles.
