Pushpa 2: The Rule Falls Prey To Piracy Websites Within Hours Of Its Release

Mumbai: Pushpa 2: The Rule, the much-hyped sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa, has released today (Decmber 5). But within hours of its theoretical release, the film has reportedly fallen prey for piracy. Reports claimed it had been leaked online on multiple piracy websites and torrent platforms such as Ibomma, Movierulz, Tamilrockers, Filmyzilla, TamilYogi, Tamilblasters, Bolly4u, Jaisha Moviez, 9xmovies, and Moviesda.

Starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, the film has released amid sky-high expectations. The makers of the film promise to take fans on an exhilarating journey into the life of Pushpa Raj in the sequel. The film is based on the character of Pushpa Raje, a coolie who rises to dominate the red sandalwood smuggling trade. Allu Arjun had also won the National Award for his portrayal of Pushpa Raj.

The film’s hype has reached every corner of the country and beyond. According to Sacnilk, Pushpa 2 has earned Rs 73 crore by selling 2,51,9266 tickets in advance booking in India. It has surpassed the advance booking of blockbusters like Baahubali 2, Jawan and RRR. In North America, pre-sales have exceeded $2.5 million. Industry experts predict a record-breaking opening weekend. The numbers may cross Rs 150 crore in India alone. Gautam Dutta, CEO of PVR INOX, anticipates lifetime earnings of Rs 800-1,000 crore, reported the Indian Express.

Lathicharge at film’s midnight premiere

The police reportedly resorted to a lathicharge after a stampede broke out during Pushpa 2’s midnight premiere at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theater. Visuals from the location were shared by netizens online. Allu Arjun attended the premiere to watch the film with fans.

Woman dead, son critical following stampede-like situation

The Pushpa 2 premiere in Hyderabad triggered a tragedy on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad.  A massive crowd had gathered to see Allu Arjun. Following a stampede-like situation outside the theatre, a 39-year-old woman died, identified as Revathi of Dilsukhnagar, died and her son remained in critical condition. Arjun made a surprise appearance at the event amid heavy security.

Saudi Arabia controversy

According to reports, the Saudi Arabia censor board objected to the much-hyped Jaathara scene where Allu Arjun is dressed as a goddess. Following negotiations and 19 minutes of cuts, the film was eventually approved for release, reported the Indian Express. The Saudi version of Pushpa 2 now runs for 3 hours and 1 minute.

Film crosses 3 million ticket sales on BookMyShow

Pushpa 2 witnessed record-breaking pre-sales on the booking platform BookMyShow, reports claimed. A whopping 3 million tickets were sold on the platform ahead of the film’s release, reported the India Today.
