Kyiv: Two days after Russian missiles struck a shopping mall with over 1,000 people inside the premises in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk, President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Vladimir Putin of becoming a ‘terrorist’ who is leading a ‘terrorist state.’
Demanding the expulsion of Russia from United Nations (UN), Zelensky urged the UN to establish an international tribunal to investigate the actions of ‘Russian occupiers on Ukrainian soil’.
“We need to act urgently to do everything to make Russia stop the killing spree,” Zelensky said during a virtual address to the UN Security Council.
The President of the war-torn country appealed to the UN to visit the shopping mall which was targeted by Russia, leaving at least 18 people dead and hundreds injured.
“I suggest the United Nations send either a special representative or the secretary-general of the United Nations, so the UN could independently find out information and see that this indeed was a Russian missile strike,” Zelensky said.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is well in the fifth month. Thousands of people, including civilians, have been killed in the war, and millions displaced from home or forced to flee the country.
