New Delhi: President Vladimir Putin recently praised the Indian film industry and spoke about its great popularity in Russia.
Speaking to the foreign press ahead of the BRICS summit, the Russian President said he is ready to talk with “our friend” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about a potential boost to the Indian industry in Russia.
Russia will be hosting the 16th annual BRICS summit at Kazan from October 22 to 24.
“Our interest in Indian cinema is huge.. If you look at all the BRICS member states, I think Indian cinema is more popular in Russia than any other BRICS country. I think we even have a separate channel on TV that shows Indian films round the clock,” said Putin.
Highlighting the potential of Bollywood movies in his country, Putin observed that India has made a lot of decisions to protect the market, not only films but automobile and other sectors.
“I am positive that if Indian fans have this interest, we will find some common ground to promote Indian films in Russia market. It is a very relevant and popular product, and alongside the pharmaceuticals it’s going to be a good undertaking.. I am ready to talk with our friend, the Prime Minister of India, when he arrives in Kazan. I am sure we will come to terms, no difficulty there,” Putin announced.
