Moscow: In a spine-chilling war cry, Vladimir Putin on Friday evening called on Ukrainian army to overthrow the government headed by President Volodymyr Zelensky
Referring to the country’s democratically elected leadership as “terrorists” and “a gang of drug addicts and neo-Nazis”, the Russian President accused Ukraine of using its citizens as human shields against Russian troops and urged Ukraine’s forces to take power into their own hands, Russian state media Sputnik reported.
“Once again, I appeal to the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – do not allow neo-Nazis and Banderites (an assortment of right-wing organisations in Ukraine) to use your children, your wives and the elderly as human shields. Take power into your own hands,” Putin said in a televised address.
“It seems that it will be easier to come to an agreement with you than with this gang of junkies and neo-Nazis, who settled in Kyiv and took the entire Ukrainian people hostage,” Putin slammed the government.
Putin blasted the Ukrainian leadership for deploying Multiple Rocket Launchers (MRLs) on the streets of Kyiv, referring to them as “terrorists”.
A day after Putin announced a military operation against the eastern European country, Russian forces advanced steadily towards Kyiv.
Russian military claimed it had captured an airport in northwest Kyiv, with gunfire being reported from areas close to government establishments.
According to experts, Kyiv is just hours away from falling to Russian forces.
