Rayagada: In a major fire incident, PVC pipes worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Saturday.
As per reports, the PVC pipes were stocked in a place at Khuri village under Kashipur block of the district. The pipes had been procured to be used for mega drinking water project in the area.
The locals spotted the fire coming out of the place where the pipes were stocked in the evening and informed the police. A team from Kashipur police station along with the Fire Brigade rushed to the spot.
By the time the Fire personnel, stationed 4 km from Khuri village, arrived, most of the pipe stock had caught fire and heavy smoke was coming out of the place.
However, the Fire personnel managed to extinguish the inferno. Nobody has been injured in the incident. The pipes that were destroyed are estimated to cost lakhs of rupees, the sources said.
