Institutional Quarantine Period Of Returnees To Be Extended In Odisha’s Khurda

Khurda: Collector Sitanshu Kumar Rout has directed all Block Development Officers (BDO) to extend institutional quarantine of returnees in Temporary Medical Camps (TMCs) to 14 days.

The reason: Many of them have tested positive for COVID-19 beyond the accepted incubation period.

“Those discharged after seven days, have tested positive while undergoing home quarantine. Further in some of the rural household, there are no separate toilets available for the use of returnees during the home quarantine period,” the collector said.

Taking this into consideration, the BDOs have been instructed to extend the quarantine period of the returnees in the TMCs to 14 days in all block areas of Khurda district. “If a returnee is found asymptomatic then they can be discharged from the TMCs after 14 days along with Rs 2000 and discharge and quarantine completion certificate,” he said.

Rout further said that RRT would continue surveillance of discharged returnees to assess their health condition during the home quarantine.
