Cuttack: As confessed by Siba Sahu, the prime accused in quintuple murder case in the district, police on Friday said he was the lone perpetrator of the crime.
Speaking to media persons after conducting crime scene recreation at the murder spot in Kusupur under Mahanga police limits, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ashok Behera said no other person was involved in ghastly murder of five persons by Siba.
The ASP said Siba came to his house late Monday night as he was highly disturbed over the land dispute with his elder brother Alekh Sahu. After his brother’s went to sleep, Siba first killed his brother’s wife and then targeted Alekh and his three children. All of them died on the spot after bleeding profusely in the attack, Behera added.
Siba later recorded a video, confessing to having hacked to death five of his elder brother’s family, and surrendered at Balichandrapur police station in Jajpur district.
Earlier in the day, the crime scene recreation was conducted in presence of the IIC of Mahanga police station, Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, and Salepur SDPO Bimal Barik. The weapon used in the murder and a mobile phone were also seized during the process.
Following his arrest, police took Siba on three-day remand on Thursday. However, he could not be interrogated properly on the first day as he fell sick and was later admitted to a hospital.
